Terms of Service
Last updated: April 17, 2026
Welcome to toui.io (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the following terms.
1. Service Description
toui.io provides URL shortening, management, and redirection services. Users can create short URLs through the dashboard or API and track click statistics.
2. Accounts and Usage
- You must sign in with a Google account or email verification to use management features
- You are responsible for all activity under your account
- Each account belongs to one workspace (team) at a time; accepting an invitation moves you into that team
- We reserve the right to disable accounts that violate these terms
3. Plans and Billing
- Free plan -- open REST API (60 req/min, 5,000/mo, 500/day), 1 user, short URLs stay permanently
- Paid plans (Pro / Pro+ / Business) -- Higher limits, wider API rate limits (Pro/Pro+ 200/min, Business 600/min), custom short codes, team features; short URLs valid indefinitely while subscribed
- Payments are processed by Paddle.com, who acts as the Merchant of Record for this Service
- After cancellation, your plan continues until the end of the billing period, then downgrades to Free. Existing short URLs remain permanently active
- All prices are in USD
3a. Refund Policy
If you are not satisfied with a paid plan, you may request a full refund within 30 days of your purchase date; one exception applies once branded short links are activated — see 3b. To request a refund, contact service@toui.io or use Paddle's buyer support at paddle.net. Refunds are processed through Paddle to your original payment method.
3b. Branded Short Links
1. Activation and term
Your branded short links activate with your plan and end with it. We'll email you once the address is live.
2. Refunds
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. Once your branded short links are activated, refunds are reduced by US$8 — a non-recoverable third-party cost incurred at activation. After a refund the address stops resolving and is released when its term expires.
3. What we can and cannot protect
While we hold this address, it is yours alone. After your service ends we will not hand it to another customer and will not point it anywhere — we stop resolving it, we do not renew it, and we let it lapse when its term expires.
Once it lapses, the address returns to the open market and anyone can obtain it from any provider, which means links you published earlier may end up pointing at someone else's content. This is true of every plan where the provider holds the address (it is not true of a domain you own yourself), and we would rather say so before you activate.
4. What happens after your service ends
When payment stops, the address keeps resolving through the grace period. After the grace period it stops resolving, but we still hold it — it goes to no one. Only when the registration term expires do we let it lapse. The gap between those two points can be several months. Resubscribe within it and your address and link data come back intact.
4. Prohibited Activities
You may not use the Service for:
- Distributing malware, phishing sites, or other harmful content
- Infringing on others' intellectual property rights
- Sending spam or unsolicited marketing content
- Circumventing usage limits or security mechanisms
- Any activity that violates applicable law
The Service automatically detects malicious URLs. URLs flagged as unsafe will be rejected.
4a. Page address (handle) policy
toui page addresses (toui.io/@name) are first come, first served. To keep this namespace fair and safe for everyone, by claiming a handle you agree to the following:
- No impersonation. Your handle and page must not impersonate any person, brand, company, or organization, and you may not register look-alike names with intent to mislead. Legitimate uses of a shared name (same personal name, clearly labeled fan pages, generic words unrelated to a brand) are fine.
- No offensive or hateful handles. Handles may not contain obscene, defamatory, discriminatory, or hateful terms.
- No squatting or resale. You may not register handles in bulk or speculatively without genuine intent to use them, and you may not hold handles for the purpose of selling, renting, or transferring them.
- toui retains final control of the namespace. To address impersonation, squatting, confusion, or other abuse, toui may — with notice, or immediately in serious cases — reclaim, reassign, require renaming of, or deactivate any handle. Clear and serious abuse (such as pornography, fraud, or malware) may result in immediate deactivation of the page or the account. This right is exercised only to protect the community and affected parties.
- Inactive handle reclamation. toui reserves the right to reclaim long-unused handles after prior notice, returning the name to the available pool. (Not currently automated; criteria will be announced before this is enforced.)
If you believe a page infringes your trademark or identity, use the "Report abuse" link on the page, or write to service@toui.io.
5. Account Suspension and Termination
- If you violate these terms or engage in abusive behavior, we may immediately suspend or permanently terminate your account without prior notice
- Abusive behavior includes but is not limited to: unreasonable consumption of system resources, automated mass creation of short URLs without legitimate purpose, exploiting loopholes in service rules for undue advantage, circumventing plan limits, or any action that disrupts the normal operation of the Service
- Users whose accounts have been terminated are prohibited from registering new accounts, whether under their own name or any other identity. We reserve the right to block associated IP addresses
6. Short URL Validity
- Logged-in users -- All short URLs stay permanently, regardless of plan or subscription status
- After cancellation -- Short URLs remain permanently active; you only lose Pro/Pro+/Business-only features (custom short codes, advanced analytics, etc.)
- Anonymous (not logged in) -- Short URLs expire after 30 days and will stop redirecting
7. Service Availability
- We strive for high availability but do not guarantee 100% uptime
- We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Service at any time
- Significant changes will be communicated in advance
8. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
- The Service is provided "as is" without any express or implied warranties
- The content of target URLs is the responsibility of the creator
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any damages arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the total amount you have actually paid to us
- We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
9. Indemnification
If your violation of these terms or abusive behavior causes us to incur losses -- including but not limited to legal fees, court costs, and third-party claims -- you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from such losses.
10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
- These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan)
- Any disputes arising from these terms shall be submitted to the jurisdiction of the Taipei District Court as the court of first instance
- If mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction provide rights that cannot be waived by contract, those mandatory provisions shall still apply
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms at any time. Significant changes may be communicated via website notice or email. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
